Everyone has been wondering when heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko would be back ever since he wasn’t included as a fight on the upcoming Strikeforce CBS show on April 17th.
Rumors of the former PRIDE champ facing UFC fighter Fabricio Werdum, have been circulating for months. And just recently new rumors have popped up that Fedor will be taking on Hidehiko Yoshida for his retirement match in Japan.
“M-1 Global and Strikeforce entered into a three fight contract exclusive for Fedor to fight in a co-promotion between Strikeforce and M-1 Global, and as you know we did the first fight on Nov 7 in Chicago,” said Scott Coker.”Fedor is now scheduled to fight in June towards the end of the month in America against Fabricio Werdum.”
Now with his fight against Werdum confirmed, the question is will Fedor also be able to fight Yoshida in Japan? Coker says most likely not.
“I’ve heard the rumors as well, and as I know more I will let the media know in American, and let the media know here, but I believe that’s just a rumor,” Coker said about the fight with Fedor and Yoshida.
The only thing left for Fedor to worry about now is possibly competing for the Strikeforce heavyweight title, which is currently being held by Alistair Overeem. And talk of that has not surfaced as of yet.
