Fighters.com heavyweight champion “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko (31-1) still isn’t signed to fight ninth-ranked “Vai Cavalo” Fabricio Werdum (12-4-1) at Strikeforce in San Jose in June, according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker speaking to MMA Weekly Radio.
The Emelianenko-Werdum matchup was originally scheduled for April 17 in Nashville, then briefly May 15 in St. Louis, and is now tentative for San Jose in June.
“We have a date in June on hold for him, and we’re hoping we work things out where he can come fight that fight,” Coker told MMA Weekly Radio. “I wish I could give you more details, but I really can’t talk about the minutia of the whole negotiation with M-1, but I’m hoping we can still do that.”
