Joined by M-1 Global boss Vadim Finkelstein and the actor Jean Claude Van Damme, Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko has revealed that his management would approach the Brazilian giant Antonio Silva, if the negotiations with Fabricio Werdum fall through. Fedor Emelianenko was "Guest of Honor" at the M-1 Selection: Eastern Europe event, held at the Aquarium Hotel (Crocus City Hall) in Moscow:
"I have no intentions leaving M-1 Global. We have a very good partnership, so I don't see any reasons why I should break-up my current deal with that organization. My next opponent will be Fabricio Werdum. We are currently negotiating with his team, but if something goes wrong we will try to reach an agreement with Antonio Silva."
If Fedor actually fights the 13-2 Antonio Silva, the decision may rairse many eyebrows, especially after contenders like Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett expressed their desire to square-off against "The Last Emperor". Antonio Silva is currently ranked #17 Heavyweight by USA Today, way behind fighters like Cheick Kongo and Gabriel Gonzaga. The fight
against Fabricio Werdum it is expected to take place on June 26, at HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
